8 Days/ 7 nights-Windhoek - Namib Desert

Day 1      Windhoek to Namib Desert  

This morning, your guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Windhoek to begin your journey. The first leg of the trip takes approximately four hours (263 km) as you make your way to your lodge in the Namib Desert. Along the way, you’ll stop for a delightful lunch at Solitaire, a charming desert outpost.

You’ll arrive at your lodge in the afternoon, giving you time to unwind and take in the breathtaking scenery. Later, you can relax and watch the sunset at the famous Pink Fridge, a perfect spot to soak in Namibia’s beauty. Afterward, return to freshen up before enjoying a delicious dinner under the desert sky, followed by a well-deserved rest for the night.

Day 2                             

This morning, after an early wake-up call, you will meet in the lobby for breakfast. Leaving early to join the queue at the entrance of Namib Naukluft Park allows you to visit Dune 45, Big Daddy, Deadvlei, and Sesriem Canyon. This early start offers the perfect opportunity to capture the dunes while the light is soft; accentuating their towering shapes and curves. You will have an incredible experience climbing Big Daddy, the highest dune at Sossusvlei.  After exploring Sossusvlei, Deadvlei, and the surrounding dune fields, you will return to the lodge in the late afternoon. This marks the end of your day after the Sossusvlei excursion.

Day 3       Namib Desert to Swakopmund (Coast) (298.6km)                                    

 

This morning, after   breakfast, you’ll embark on  a scenic drive northwest  through the stunning and ever-changing desert landscapes of Namib Naukluft National Park, passing through the impressive Ghaub and Kuiseb Canyons via the Kuiseb Pass. Your journey will lead you to the coast at the port town of Walvis Bay. Upon arrival in Walvis Bay, your guide will drop you off for the Sandwich Harbour excursion. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to visit the flamingos and the pink lake. Sandwich Harbour, part of Namib Naukluft Park, offers a scenic 4×4 drive along the Walvis Bay Lagoon and the salt mines. After the activities, you will return to the waterfront before continuing your drive to Swakopmund.

Day 4        Swakopmund to Oppi Koppi Rest Camp (469km)

This morning, you will set off on your journey to Oppi Koppi, with some exciting stops along the way. First, you’ll visit a historic shipwreck, offering a glimpse into Namibia’s rugged coastal past. Next, you’ll explore the Twyfelfontein rock engravings, a UNESCO World Heritage Site showcasing ancient San rock art.

Lunch will be enjoyed at Twyfelfontein Country Lodge, where you can relax and take in the stunning surroundings. Afterward, your journey continues with a visit to the Welwitschia Mirabilis, one of the world’s oldest and most fascinating desert plants, before arriving at Oppi Koppi Rest Camp for a well-deserved rest.

Day 5   Oppi Koppi Rest Camp to Etosha Nation Park ( 111km)                                                                               

This morning, after breakfast, you will visit a Himba village for a unique cultural experience, learning about the traditions and way of life of the Himba people.

After the visit, you will drive to Etosha National Park via Galton Gate. Upon arrival, your game drive adventure begins, offering a chance to spot Namibia’s incredible wildlife. Lunch will be enjoyed at Dolomite Camp, followed by another exciting game drive through the park.

By late afternoon, you will arrive at Okaukuejo Resort, where you can freshen up before dinner. Afterward, unwind at the famous waterhole, watching wildlife gather under the starry sky—a perfect end to the day.

Day 6     Etosha National Park

Today is dedicated to a full day of thrilling game viewing in the central section of Etosha National Park. The park gates open at sunrise, allowing you to experience the beauty of the early morning light. After breakfast, you’ll set off on your morning game drive, the best time for wildlife spotting as predators are most active—if you’re lucky, you might even witness a hunt!

Lunch will be enjoyed at Halali Resort Camp, where you can relax before continuing your journey through the park. In the afternoon, you’ll make your way back to Okaukuejo Resort Camp, marking the end of an unforgettable day in the wild.
